HOW I FEEL DURING A SEIZURE
Ok, for starters I think I'm pretty open about my epilepsy. Today I want to share a story about how it feels when I have a seizure.
At the age of 9, I had my first seizure. I was at school, in the snack line. It was like I was walking into a dark tunne and that's all I remember. Then, I woke up in the hospital.
Having epilepsy, it's like I literally have loss time. These are moments in my life that I could be walking or doing things that I thought about doing prior to the seizure. The seizures would come and I can't control it. I'm just in it.
Before seizure:
For me, it's like going in a dark place or tunnel that's closing in on you. The sound, the space, light slowly or quickly leaves me. Everything gets foggy; I can't comprehend things such as my name and where I live.
During a seizure:
I am in an unconscious state to where I don't know what the heck is going on. From what I'm told, it looks scary. And it looks like it hurts. But honestly, it doesn't hurt at all.
I've had a grand mal seizure and it was sssooo bad. All I remember was going in it. I felt an aura. My mom was worried about me, because I had been having seizures all week. I went into the seizure and I didn't feel a thing. After the seizure I only remember certain things. See, a seizure scrabbles your brain and it takes awhile for it (and you) to get back to normal. My parents had to help me to the bed because I was on the sofa. I could not walk or anything. After that particular seizure it took me 12 hours to being myself again.
Post seizure:
Post seizure is like a delirious feeling. I only remember bits and pieces of it. Most times it feels like a dream. My head hearts so bad, it's unbearable! All I can do is sleep. So I can recover from it.
There are over 40 different types of seizures.
I have grand mals & absence seizures. Grand mal seizures are the type of seizure that you need to recover from. Now absence seizures are the staring ones.
