Get up & Ride NOLA: HIGH MAINTAINCE EDITION
The Get Up & Ride Bike Tours are something you must experience if you go to the New Orleans area.
These tours are fun and can last anywhere from 2-3 hours long. Just from my experience, it gives you a one-on-one look at the city.
We took a beautiful tour of the city on a Tuesday night. We started in the uptown area and road our bikes downtown. Now I hadn't rode a bike in years, so let's just say I was rusty. I was just about the last person sometimes.lol. I do not ride bikes, but if I had to, I'd definitely do this again!
Again, I am not a pro bike rider. There was an incident where we as a group of about 20 was making a U-turn on the highway. And oncoming traffic was coming...And it would come most likely while I'm making a U-turn because I am one of the last people. I had two options: rush and make the U-turn or stand in the median. It was a six lane highway. I crossed the first part without hesitation, but I saw those cars coming. Even though I was tired, I rushed across the other 3 lanes bascially carrying my bike. lol. After I crossed the median, I really contemplated getting an uber. However, I continued the bike ride until the end-I was tired!! And my body felt it for the next few days.
I would definitely do it again. The tour included several stops along the way. There was a stop a the Mississippi River, where my friend and I took pictures. Then there was a happy hour stop at Handsome Willie's. Basically, you'd be able to get food, drinks, chill, untill they ride again.. It's a chill ride with music and everything-I suggest practicing on a bike you may have!
